Welcome to my passion project.

Hi! I’m Dayna, founder of CAMP Mental Health Inc., and I’m on a mission to help professionals and parents create calm, confident, and connected homes through a simple, actionable framework.

My journey to creating CAMP began over 15 years ago, when I started working as a youth care worker and supporting kids with ADHD and autism. From there, I became a teacher, specializing in outdoor education and student services for at-risk children and teens.

During this time, my students and I experienced a devastating natural disaster that deeply affected our community. I realized I had no tools to help myself or my students process the emotions and trauma we were facing. Determined to make a difference, I pursued further education—a graduate program in school and counseling psychology, followed by a master’s degree in counseling psychology.

These studies opened the door for me to work as a school counselor and later as a private practice clinician, where I had the privilege of supporting countless families navigating behavioral and emotional challenges.

For years, I felt confident working with children and youth

—until I became a mother myself. Suddenly, everything changed. I realized that even the best parenting tools and strategies don’t work unless parents themselves feel calm, confident, and regulated.

Whenever I faced challenges with my own children, I noticed the same issue over and over: every resource offered different steps for different behaviors, and in the heat of the moment, I couldn’t remember any of them. I needed something straightforward—something that worked for both my children and me.

This realization led to the creation of CAMP: a framework for calm and confident leadership. CAMP is not just a professional tool—it’s a resource that helps me in my own parenting journey.

I don’t believe anyone should have to rely solely on expensive, reactive care like therapy when there are so many proactive interventions we can put in place.

—CAMP is my way of giving everyone the tools to thrive—not just survive.

"CAMP takes what my heart knows to be true and presents it in an actionable way. The focus on Connection, Control and Purpose as its foundation gives a grounding, simplified, and sequential way to look at behaviour and mental health, cohesively! What a treasure! I am celebrating the creation of CAMP as a parent, practitioner, and human being, it feels like just what the world needs right now. Thank you Dayna for creating something so accessible, for your hard work and research, and for your bravery in bringing this to our community! I can't wait for people to become familiar with this refreshing take on challenging behaviour and what we can all do to support youth, and ourselves, in this way."

I really enjoyed the CAMP workshop with Dayna. She was able to clearly outline her CAMP approach to working with children and youth. I think this framework is comprehensive and can really impact how we approach challenging behaviors from a mental health perspective. I love that Dayna believes the child can help find solutions and that intrinsic motivation is an important part of the framework. I work mainly with early years families and I am a parent so I can use this approach in both my professional and personal life.
