Dayna Haig-Conway, MA

Dayna is the founder of CAMP Mental Health Inc. Her work is grounded in over 15 years of experience supporting children, youth, and frontline professionals as a youth care worker, teacher, school counsellor, and mental health clinician. Through these roles, she saw firsthand the toll that burnout, overwhelm, and compassion fatigue take on those who give endlessly to others.

Following a devastating natural disaster that deeply impacted both her students and herself, Dayna recognized the lack of a systematic, proactive approach to supporting nervous system regulation, resilience, and meaningful connection. This experience led her to pursue graduate and master’s degrees in counselling psychology and ultimately to create the CAMP framework.

CAMP was developed to move beyond surface-level strategies by offering a clear, step-by-step method that helps professionals regulate first, assess needs beneath behavior, align with meaning and values, and collaboratively propose sustainable solutions. Dayna is passionate about equipping educators, healthcare providers, and social service professionals with practical tools that support calm, clarity, and resilience—before crisis occurs.

My introduction to the CAMP Mental Health framework came through one of Dayna’s workshops, and the approach immediately resonated. As a parent looking for practical, meaningful resources to help my children navigate school and everyday challenges, I found very few options that offered clear direction — until CAMP. What stood out was its proactive focus and the clear, step-by-step method it provides to build shared understanding and alignment for everyone involved.

With a professional background in creative direction, design and community-based projects across corporate, educational, and nonprofit settings, I have seen how reactive systems and misalignment undermine wellbeing and progress. I am excited about helping organizations and families work upstream by creating clarity, consistency, and connection before challenges escalate.

As Creative Director at CAMP Mental Health, I am proud to support the organization’s mission by translating the CAMP framework into accessible, engaging experiences that help individuals, families, and teams move forward together.

I was drawn to the philosophy of CAMP Mental Health after years working in the medical field with sport injury, post op and musculoskeletal patients and being a patient myself. My clinical and personal experiences highlighted for me the need for resilience and connection to successfully overcome health challenges.

I am also sadly familiar with “Health Care Worker Burnout”, the necessity of having resilience and strong personal connections to withstand the challenges of working in todays health care landscape.

I am delighted to be working for CAMP as they strive to assist organizations and individuals thru the CAMP framework develop healthy, proactive leadership approaches based on neuroscience and intrinsic motivation.

Counsellors

Natalie Carruthers, CCC

Clinical Counsellor
BC, Canada

Hi, my name is Natalie Carruthers. I first became excited about CAMP through my work as a mental health counsellor for children and families. My interest increased dramatically after becoming a mother myself and needing practical tools to help navigate the beautiful messy journey of motherhood. I have been a practicing counsellor for over six years now with the majority of my experience based out of the Fernie Women's Resource Center and Columbia Basin Family Resource Society. Here I've gained a wide array of experience working with youth, families, and adults navigating the complexities of trauma. Before completing a Master's in Counselling, I worked as a Behaviour Specialist for children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy. I was also a ski coach for many years and have loved working with children for the majority of my adult life. I am trained in EMDR, Emotion Focussed Family Therapy, Gottman's Couples Counselling, Trauma Informed Somatic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy and Play Therapy.

I am so excited to join the CAMP team and implementing NaerOptimal feedback into my counselling practice. Can't wait to meet you!
