Want to Lead Better? Start Here.

Regulation Is Leadership

We often think of leadership as decisiveness, strength, or charisma—but neuroscience tells us one of the most powerful leadership skills is regulation.

🧠 When your nervous system is calm, you activate your parasympathetic system—your “rest and digest” mode. In this state, your brain has better access to empathy, perspective-taking, and long-term thinking.

But if you’re constantly in “fight or flight,” your body is just trying to survive. You can’t lead from there. And you certainly can’t model resilience for others.

⚒️ This Week’s Strategy:This week’s micro-strategy:

Name what you’re feeling. Out loud. To yourself.

Labeling emotions decreases the intensity in the brain’s amygdala and helps shift you back into your prefrontal cortex.

Professionals aren’t losing their impact because they’ve lost their passion. They’re losing the spark because they’re never given space to regulate or recover.

At CAMP, we teach leaders how to recognize, regulate, and respond—because the best leaders are the ones who are full from within.
